Lydia is a representational artist, who studied traditional oil painting techniques in London. Her work focuses primarily on portraiture and landscapes, which she paints from life. She looks for inspiration in the daily routines of life and the people around her. She accepts portrait commissions from several clients in her home city of London and has worked as the New Generation Festival Painter in Florence. She has travelled to Samoa to be an Artist in Residence at the Tiapapata Art Centre, where she is taking inspiration from the rich vibrancy of the Samoan way of life.
Lydia will be assisting Wendy in a series of art classes open to the public that will explore water-based oil painting methods for figure and landscape painting. Students will be able to discover the use of colour and gesture in figure painting with a life model, as well as the methods behind capturing the Samoan landscape as they see it before them.
Workshops for ages 11-15 years: Wednesdays, 3:30pm-5:30pm. Fee: $30.00/session (includes materials)
