
2018 Human Rights Day Book Launch

You are warmly invited to an early celebration of Human Rights Day 2018 at the Tiapapata Art Gallery on Sunday 9 December. Presenters include:
Ms Simona Marinescu, UN Resident Coordinator, on human rights and the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights;
Ms Loukinikini Vili, Director of Human Rights in Samoa, on key human rights concerns in Samoa;
Mata‘afā Fa‘atino Utumapu, President, Samoa Blind Persons Association (SBPA), on vision loss in Samoa;
Mr Daniel Kish, Perceptual Navigation Specialist at World Access for the Blind: None Remain Blind in the Light of Heart and Mind;
Mr Paloka Fepuleai, Clarence Sebastian Foundation, on albinism in Samoa.
The event features the launch of “Seu and the Ruffled Bird Catcher,” a human rights education story for children and young adults. Author Galumalemana Steven Percival, will also read a passage from his book, a short story about a blind girl and her albino cousin who face and overcome discrimination.
